Her name
is Seblewengel Ayalew. She is an 8 years old girl living
with her parents Mihret and Sara Ayalew and her younger
brother Senay, seven and her youngest sister Ayda,
five. Her parents are from Ethiopia. Seble born in
Dallas, Texas and moved to Kansas City, Missouri when she
was a little girl, and stayed KC almost for 5
years. Now, she lives at her new home in a nice and quite
town called St. Peters, Missouri, few miles west of
St. Louise, Missouri. I
have known Seble since her second birthday. She is a
brilliant and gifted girl. Now, she is a 3rd grade
student. She is one of gifted children from her
school. Her dad told me she is a mathematician, athlete,
poet, artist as well as multi- lingual girl. She
gets her parents and families attention for every move
she is making. Her mom and her dad are her role models.
They bought her books from Ethiopia, such as a
fourth grade mathematical book, which is a basic
mathematics book for most Ethiopian students. She several
books such as Thesaurus, Fedel (Amharic language's
alphabets poster, Amharic is an official language of
Ethiopia.) and a nice geography book that shows the
worlds map, each country's flag and description.
Seble is
fluent in both English and Amharic languages. She can
read and write both in Amharic and English languages. Two
years ago, she had a chance to visit her root (Ethiopia)
accompanied with her family. Still she remembers what she
saw over there. She learned a lot on her trip to
Ethiopia. Since she was fluent in Amharic language she
did not have any problem to communicate and to have fun
with her cuisine, grand parents ants, uncles and other
relatives in Ethiopia. Few years ago, I
asked Seble what she is going to be when she grows
up. She told me she wants to be a brain surgeon. I asked
the same question after a year and she gave me the same
answer. She told me she wants to go to Ethiopia to help
others after she gets her medical doctor's degree.
Few days ago, I had a chance to visit Seble's family. I
amazed by Seble's improvement. She showed me the art she
drew, the poetry she wrote, the dairy she wrote in
Amharic language, and the math she did at school.
I was
proud on her and her family for having such a gifted
girl. After I saw her work, I asked her if it is ok
to show her work for others. She was happy and she had a
big smile on her beautiful face. She said "
really!" I said "yeah!" At first, I was
thinking only to keep only the hard copy of her work.
However, when I showed her work for other people, their
impression gave an idea that Seble is the right person to
be selected as the "Person of the week" in
yebbo.com web site
Note:
Seble and her parents gave me permission to post her
sample work in this web site. Special Thanks: Mihret
