The nature of the terrain and the general lack of alternative means of travel mean that by far the best way to travel around in Ethiopia is on the extensive internal flight network operated by Ethiopian Airlines .

+ Buses and minibuses operate between most main centres but the journeys can be very slow and can be terminated unexpectedly as a result of poor road conditions, floods, damaged bridges etc.

* TAXI
+ Taxis are available in Addis Ababa and a few other centres. It is essential to agree the fare with the driver before commencing the journey.

* CAR RENTAL

* Driving is on the right as in USA, France, Germany etc. Road conditions can be awful.

* Car rental is very rare. Self Drive is only really possible in Addis and even there it is much better to have a chauffeur as finding one's way around is very difficult.
